Social

Every season the Social Team work to provide a full program of ride-outs and social evenings to give members the opportunity to discuss skills and motorcycle training.

See our events calendar for details.

Meetings

Our monthly meetings provide an opportunity to make friends, share experiences and to catch up on club news.

During the winter months, meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month and often feature a presentation by a guest speaker. Previous speakers have included:

  • i2i Motorcycle Academy
  • Great North Air Ambulance Service

Everyone is welcome at our monthly meetings. Please feel free to come along and have a look at us! Check out our social event listing page for details.

During the summer we prefer to be out on our motorbikes! Meetings take the form of evening rides, BBQs, chip shop runs, poker runs, treasure hunts, etc

Rideouts

Our group rideouts take place on the first and third Sunday of each month throughout the ‘biking season’.

All rides are considered ‘Green Badge’ events; the standard of riding must be commensurate with membership of NAM and the IAM. Your motorcycle must be taxed, insured and have a current MOT (if appropriate).

Category 1 rides
Category 1 rides are aimed at riders who are still undergoing IAM Roadsmart training and who may be new to group riding. Observers will be more than happy to offer support and feedback.

Rides are typically 100-150 miles with several refreshment stops. They provide an opportunity for members to get used to the Drop-Off System.

Category 2 rides
Our Category 2 rides are usually 150-200 miles with fewer stops.

Riders wishing to take part must have passed their IAM Roadsmart test or have had their riding assessed by an Observer. This assessment can take place during a Category 1 Ride or one of our summer evening rides.

Guests

Riders who do not hold an advanced riding qualification, and who are not members of the IAM, are welcome to join one Category 1 ride.

Advanced riders and current IAM members may join a Category 2 ride at the discretion of the Rideout Coordinator or Ride Leader.

All guests must make themselves known to the Rideout Coordinator or Ride Leader before the start of the ride.

1-2-1 Training

All members are entitled to 1-2-1 refresher rides with an Observer. You do not need to contribute towards your Observer’s costs! This is one of the benefits included in your NAM subscription.

If it has been some time since you have taken your IAM Advanced Roadsmart test, or you just want a refresher ride, contact a member of the Training Team.

Did you know?

All members of the Committee, Training Team and Observers have their riding skills re-assessed every year. Book your free re-assessment!

Help us to go further

The success of Northumbria Advanced Motorcyclists is due the generosity of its members; riders and friends who freely give their time and exerptise to help other motorcyclists and to support club events.

Whatever your strengths, whether creative, mechanical, good at writing or good with people, get involved! Contact a member of our marketing, social or training teams to find out what they are working on and how you can help.

EasyFundrasing

73 Members are collecting free donations everytime they shop on-line. These donations go directly towards helping us to promote motorcycle road safety.

If NAM has helped you to improve your riding skills, please consider joining EasyFundraising so that we may help other riders.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax-payer, NAM could claim back £5 tax on your subsciption from HMRC. That would make your subscription worth £25 to the club.

£5 may not sound like a lot but, across the entire membership, gift aid could make a significant contribution to club funds.

Lead a ride

Share your favourite motorcycle route with other members of the club.
