Weekend Away May 2020

The Social Team have booked rooms at the Stirling Court Hotel for the late May Bank Holiday 2020.

For those who would like to go, the cost of Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for 3 nights is:

  • doubles & twin rooms: £129 per night (£40 deposit)
  • single rooms: £89 per night (£30 deposit)

Payments to Colin Irvine (Treasurer) by BACS OR cheque.

Cheques should be made payable to Northumbria Advanced Motorcyclists and given to Colin. Please add your name as a reference.

Closure of Fire Station Social Club

We are sorry to report that the Fire Station Social Club is to close.

Our September meeting will be at a temporary venue until we can find a new home. Please check our Events page for venue updates.

If anyone has a suggestion for a suitable venue, where the costs aren't too high, please send a message to Email me.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Fire Service and to Jan and the team at the West Denton Social Club for their fantastic support and for making us feel at home.

Stirling Weekend - Information

Check in to the Stirling Court Hotel from 2pm. The meal plans is for dinner and breakfast. We will all dine together at 7pm.

The hotel staff wil cordon off a section of the car park for our bikes.

A couple of people have planned ride outs around the area which members are welcome to join. There will be a briefing at 9:30am each morning for those wanting to join the group rides. However, if you wish to go off and explore on your own, that’s fine too!

We will have complimentary use of the University swimming pool a short distance from the hotel. However, pool access times are restricted; a timetable will be available at the pool reception. Towels will be provided.

We will also have complimentary access to a 9-hole golf course. There will be a charge for hire of clubs and balls.

Michael Sutherland is leading a group ride to Stirling. Anyone wishing to join him should be at Seaton Burn Services for 9.30am on Friday morning.

Off-road skills, Scotland, October

The Social Team are in touch with Robbie Allan who runs an Off-Road Experience Centre in Drumclog, South Lanarkshire (just south of Glasgow). It’s a 1200 Acre site with varied terrain.

He can offer a 4 hour taster session for up to 6 riders at a time and has a selection of Honda 230s and 250x Enduro Bike’s. He will be flexible as to what the group want out of the experience.

The cost is £130 per rider for 4 hours tuition, including hire of bikes and all protective clothing.

Proposed dates are weekend of 12/13th October and 19/20th October if there is a lot of interest.

Imperial War Museum 1st - 2nd November

The Social Team are organising a trip to the Air Museum at Duxford on Saturday 2nd November 2019.

Ten double-rooms have been booked at the Holiday Inn Express, Duxford, Cambridge for 2 nights Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd November 2019.

Price is £85 per room per night including a full breakfast on Saturday & Sunday. Car parking is an additional £5 per vehicle (bike or car) for 24 hours. There is a pub, the Red Lion, across the road.

The deposit has been covered; those attending will be responsible for paying their own bill at the end of their stay.

Depending on interest, the team will look at booking a minibus to take members to the museum so that leave cars and bikes may be left at the hotel. Cost of entry to the museum will be confirmed, once the team have looked into the possiblity of a group concession.

There may be the possibility of a group ride down to Duxford on Friday.

Camping Weeking 28th - 30th June

Orcaber Farm Caravan and Camping Site near Settle in the Yorkshire dales.

The site are giving us a special rate of £10 per unit (tent and bike) per night. The site gets good reviews and there are couple of villages nearby with pubs for those who wish to eat out.

Please send a message to Email me to confirm your interest, stating whether you will stay for 1 or 2 nights. The Social Team will then be able to let the site know potential numbers.

Ten Pin Bowling 26th March 19:30 - 21:30

Namco Funscape, Intu Metrocentre, Unit 244, Garden Walk, Gateshead. NE11 9XY

Two games of 10 Pin Bowling - £12 per person. Meet in the foyer of Namco Funscape at 19.15.

Current numbers suggest that we will need 3 bowling lanes. If you are interested, and missed the first Facebook post, please let the Social Team know as soon as you can so that they have time to reserve additional lanes if neccessary.

48 States in 48 Days

NAM member Gordon Wilson is undertaking a 13,000 mile trip of a lifetime to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

He will represent Northumria Advanced Motorcyclists as he rides through Washington State. Preparations for the trip, due to start 1st August, are going well!

Karting Jan 2019

For those still interested, the Social Team have provisionally booked a Karting evening on Thursday 24th January 2019 at 7pm.

The cost is £25 per person for 2 x 15 minute laps of the track, including safety equipment and briefing. Helmets and balaclavas are provided but you may wear your own.

Only 12 karts are allowed on the track at a time. Based on the number who registered interest, we will probably be split into 3 teams.

To confirm our booking, the Social Team need to know who will be attending and a payment of £25 per person.
